We're halfway there, teammates! Forward!
Week 7 still on duty at the Nursery Unit. Here's some of beautiful flower to start it of.
Beautiful, ain't it? Meet Anthurium or commonly known as "Flamingo Flower" or "Boy Flower".
Google it for more info.
Soaking the jiffy/giffy in hot water makes it expand faster and kill of the bacteria. This thing are used in marcotting method. It acts as the rooting medium. Marcotting is the process of inducing branch or twigs to produce roots while still attached to the parent plant.
Lectures early in the morning usually makes me sleepy. But not outside the classroom. Lectures from Sir Sungkin keeps us up-to-date info about the propagation of plants.
Explaination about the propagation of durians from the expert. Looks like our very own YB Lawrence is interested in opening his own durian orchard. Mo jadi YB or tauke durian? Hmmm~
This is another method of plant propagation. This method is called whip grafting. This method has distinct advantage of allowing a much greater area of cambial contact than either cleft or saddle grafting.
This is how we do the marcotting methods. The bark around the twig is removed and a root growth hormone is applied at the exposed cambium. After a few week, you can cut of this section and plant it to get a new tree.
Tie both end and there you go.
Secret agents in black.
That's it. We're done here. The mission was a success. We manage to free all the hostages and beat the crap out of the terrorists. :P See you all next time.
